Clarity is everything. As a coach, you already know this. Analysing the gaps and finding the right questions to help your clients get clarity on their lives, their goals and their pathways is exactly what a coach does.
So, ask yourself, why does the same principle not apply to you: the coach?
Well, it does. The coaching market has changed. It’s bigger, it’s heavier and everyday life/business coaches are not making the big money they once were.
There are lots of reasons why this is, but the biggest of them all is one all powerful and transformative word:
In order to stand out in the market, you have to become a specialist. An expert. An authority. The kind of person who can solve a very specific customer’s very specific pain in such a way that you’re regarded as the best at.
Perception is everything, and your niche is the foundation upon which that perception is built upon. The more sturdy your niche, the bigger that perception tower will be.
To be an expert in something you have to be very clear on what that something is. And no, despite what my fiancé repeatedly tells me, there is no such thing as an “Expert of Everything”. That’s a myth. You can be a Jack, but you’ll never be a Master.
And a Jack will never know who his ideal client is, therefore he will never know how to find them.
When you cast your net for clients and it repeatedly comes back empty, you’re most likely fishing in the same place as everyone else: the sea of sameness.
Grab your rod, grab a stool and head to the little babbling brook where nobody else fishes because there are “less fish there”.
Sure, there are less fish. But every fish in there is yours and yours alone, and you’ll be eating very well as long as that brook is yours. Heck, maybe you will catch too many to eat. Maybe your barrels will be overflowing. Maybe you’ll have to employ people to help so you can sell what you’ve caught and you end up starting your own fishery…
… okay, I think that analogy is dead. But you catch my drift! By becoming an expert with a clear, defined niche open up greater avenues for growth. Specific pains and specific problems command much higher expectations for outcomes. And with that comes the ability to charge higher prices, leverage your time around what you want… and ultimately grow in whatever direction you chose, how many of those there may be.
It’s not the only step on the ladder, but it is the first (and arguably the most important) rung in setting up and sustaining a profitable coaching business.
But… how do you decide what your niche is?
There are a number of ways you can do this, but by far the best way is to get some help. That is why we’re running an intensive day-long workshop (on the 20th of July 2016) where me and my colleagues will be working with you directly to help you clarify and take action on your niche in a safe, supportive group of your peers.

It doesn’t matter what level you’re currently at, this will be an even suitable for all levels. Although, it’s not for the faint of heart. Experts in the making must prepare to be challenged and not simply ‘liked by everyone’. They create polarizing opinions and challenge the status quo, and that is what we will be encouraging from the moment you apply.
By the end of this workshop, you will find everything comes much easier:
- Lead generation
- Client conversion
- Creating and selling products
- Coaching itself!
Niching truly is one of the most powerful steps you will ever take as a coach and a business person, and it all starts with a few “Experts of Everything” (well, everything to do with the Business of Coaching!) to show you the way.
So, if you’re the kind of person who longs to charge higher fees, become known for something different and really make a mark on this industry… this workshop is for you.
If you want to carry on fishing in the sea of sameness, be our guest. If you’re ready to cast your net somewhere a little different, we’re ready to help. Click here to find out more, or click the banner below.
If you’re reading this after the 20th of July 2016 and a Niching workshop still sounds like your idea of a good time, then drop us an email and tell us! If there’s enough of a demand, we’ll be running it again. And again.
